Minimization of wastages by appropriate budgeting ensures that proper regulations are made in purchasing items that are of greatest needs, other than those that simply satisfy the common needs. However, little known, individual expense reports are also important for families in enabling appropriate budgeting. How you act affects what grade you get Essay The Impact of Student Behavior on Student Learning is an important subject. There are varying issues that affect student behavior, and a students ability to learn and perform efficiently. This paper will discuss some of the behaviors that are commonly demonstrated when students face one of the most common symptoms; stress. It will also cover how stress, a symptom of student behavior can affect student learning. Student behavior can be categorized two different ways. A determining factor is if the behavior is negative or positive. These behaviors can be overt or covert and can play a big part in determining a student grade in a particular class. Students demonstrating poor behavior have a tendency to get lower grades. Poor behavior, which is a symptom of stress, can be linked to lack of sleep. According to The Franklin Institute Online, â€Å"Disrupting routines and interrupting sleep-all have a cumulative effect on your brain, especially its ability to remember and learn† (Franklin, 2004). The brain is a precious organism and if it is stressed it will not perform to capacity. Stress can cause ones behavior to fluctuate in a manner that can be destructive to productivity. If a student’s behavior fluctuates and causes them to react poorly in a class room setting they may not be able to retain the information needed to qualify for the grades necessary to complete their degree (K. White, personal communication, June 29, 2011). According to the Webster online dictionary, the definition of behavior is â€Å"the manner of conducting oneself; anything that an organism does involving action and response to stimulation† (Webster, 2011). Human beings have the capability to conduct themselves in a manner that may or may not help their capacity for learning. The wrong type of stimulation can alter the student’s ability to perform simple tasks that under normal circumstances would be easy for the student to perform. The behavior displayed by students affects the outcome of the amount of information the student retains. The more information a student can retain the better the grades that student is likely to receive. By definition, behavior is ‘the manner in which one conducts oneself’, and cannot be measured as good or bad because it is a matter of opinion (K. White, personal communication, June 29, 2011). Behaviors can be changed or altered to fit the mood of the person. â€Å"The term stress is short for distress, a word evolved from Latin that means to draw or pull apart. The Romans even used the term ‘districtia’ to describe a being torn asunder (Franklin, 2004). To be torn from your normal routine of good study habits, exams, and team work would be understandable in the case of a stressed student. Since the student has limited, or no control over the stressors in their life; they cannot always be held responsible for their behavior. A behavior can be harmful to the outcome of a situation but does not have to mean that the person with the behavior is bad or good (K. White, personal communication, June 29, 2011). In the same since that negative and positive behavior don’t equate to bad or good. Negative behavior is any behavior that harms the student’s learning ability (K. White, personal communication, June 29, 2011). An example would be a student that shows signs of stress. That student may be edgy or not seem like a team player. The student may grasp the main concepts during class but not seem to put the effort forth to get good grades where tests are involved. This student may understand concepts and be able to explain to others with ease how they work. This student may also miss deadlines, or not post assignments on time. This negative behavior is harmful to the student, but due to stress the student is not able to control the negative behavior. The student may not be aware of the way their behavior is disrupting their school life and will not recognize the affect on their grades (K. White, personal communication, June 29, 2011). â€Å"Overt behaviors are more open and observable and would include students talking during class, using their cellular phones, or eating or drinking noisily. Covert behaviors are more passive and include sleeping during class, arriving to class late, leaving class early, or generally acting bored and disengaged.† (Seidman, 2005) Demonstration of these behaviors may be done together or separately. A student can demonstrate just covert behavior and still seem defiant. Both covert and overt behaviors can be a sign of stress. The student who demonstrates these behaviors may not recognize that they are being a distraction to the class or to themselves. They can also attribute to poor or no study habits. Both behaviors can cause problems for the student because they can hinder the student’s ability to perform in a class setting. For example: A student can understand the concepts in a course but have trouble staying awake during class and miss important notes or assignment deadlines. When this student post an assignment too late to receive full credit their grade is affected. The student has shown signs of overt behavior but did not intend to be seen as disruptive. Often students have no idea that the outcome of their behavior can lead to poor grades. Some students are able to correct their poor grades with good grades by a change in their behavior. The symptom that will show in lieu of stress would be happiness or a since of calm. Students who demonstrate negative behavior will have a hard time retaining information or keeping up with their courses. Students with positive behavior will have a better chance of retaining the maximum amount of information possible. Positive behavior helps the student to create an environment within themselves that is conducive to learning (K. White, personal communication, June 29, 2011). Students who are stress free in mind, body, and soul are free to work at full capacity to achieve their academic goals. When a student feels comfortable with their surroundings and is freed from worrying about the outside world, the student will have a higher level of concentration on school work as all other distractions have been managed or eliminated. They will be able to focus their energy on studying , and processing the information studied. (K. White, personal communication, June 29, 2011). Behaviors can be changed or altered with help of others. Most schools have an academic advisor who is able to handle student issues. They may not be able to completely assist in matters of home life but may have some good suggestions and or referrals that may help the student get back on track. A change in student behavior for the good can impact student learning in a positive way. â€Å"Bear in mind that an appropriate stress response is a healthy and necessary part of life. It improves mood. Problems feel more like challenges, which encourages creative thinking that stimulates your brain to grow new connections within it.† (Franklin, 2004). In conclusion, student behavior can be a symptom of underlying issues that can affect student learning for different reasons and in many different ways. Poor behavior, which is a symptom of stress, can be linked to lack of sleep. The wrong type of stimulation can alter the student’s ability to perform simple task that under normal circumstances would be easy for the student to perform. Since the student has limited to no control over the stress in their life they cannot always be held responsible for their behavior. The student may not be aware of the way their behavior is disrupting their school life and will not recognize the affect on their grades. A happy, content students mind, body, and soul are free to work at full capacity to achieve the goal of good paper writing, testing, and team work. Both behaviors can cause problems for the student because they can hinder the student’s ability to perform in a class setting. Some students are able to correct their poor grades with good grades by a change in their behavior. A change in student behavior for the good can impact student learning in a positive way. Death, Personal Experience and the Supernatural in Sylvia Plaths Poetr

These five poems by Sylvia Plath are all connected by the theme of death, self-loathing, and by the presence of historical and magical concepts. Sylvia Plath uses very powerfully charged imagery of controversial and emotional topics in order to best describe her own life. Most of the poems reflect her own personal life, including the events that she has experienced and, more appropriately, the relationships and emotions that she has felt. Every single one of these five poems uses the word â€Å"dead† and the topic of death itself is prevalent in some manner. Of particular interest is the presence of her relationship with her deceased father, and her own reluctance to let go of his memory. Plath's poetry reflects her own self-loathing and disregard for her own existence. Her poems often mention her own attempts at suicide, in addition to her personal experiences with trying to get rid of her suicidal desires. In each of her poems she evokes the images of historical and mythical creatures and concepts linked with the religious and the supernatural. In addition, her poems can be connected by the idea of being held back or held down by some sort of feeling, either of desire for a loved one, escape from mortal existence or of a fantasy world. In the poem â€Å"The Colossus†, Plath is reflecting on her relationship with her father. She depicts him as a giant statue of sorts that has broken into pieces that, despite her efforts, she can never piece back together. This poem reflects her inability to let go of her father despite him being dead for most of her life; she's thirty years old at the time. It is a spacious spa that has 20 unique and fully automated Ultrasonic Massage System equipped with therapeutic aquatic jets that helps customers with different health benefits which depends on the type of massage and machine they will use. Ace Water Spa includes day spas, fitness clubs and gyms, and water resorts as their competitor. Examples are The Spa, Fitness First, and Splash Island. Compared to other day spas, the price of Ace Water Spa is much cheaper, which only costs Php. 480. 00 for adults and Php. 240. 00 for children 4ft. and below, while on other spas, the rates ranges for about few thousand pesos. However, other spas are more private than Ace Water Spa, because Ace Water Spa is a resort-type spa where everyone has access to the pools, while other spas have individual rooms for every customer. Compared to water resorts, the price of Ace water Spa is more expensive. Like for instance, the rates of Splash Island on weekdays costs Php. 250. 00 for adults and Php. 200. 00 for children. During holidays and weekends, their rates cost Php. 325. 00 for adults and Php. 250. 00 for children. On the other hand, water resorts only cater aqua thrills, adventure, and fun while Ace Water Spa offers massage services. Compared to fitness clubs and gyms, they focus on developing health and fitness. They have different exercise studios, machines and equipments, and personal training. Nevertheless, Ace Water Spa focuses on developing overall well-being through a variety of services. Ace Water Spa has been profitable on its first two years of operation. It has successfully differentiated itself from other day spas, fitness clubs, and water resorts. But since it is a resort-type spa, there have been negative comments regarding the convenience of customers. The place can sometimes be too crowded which results into uncomfortably experience of the customer. Although high traffic would be an advantage to Ace Water Spa, due to the means of high profitable margin, they must also balance profitability and customer satisfaction.

The Myth of Atalanta

â€Å"The Myth of Atalanta† What is the price of love and happiness? Atalanta is a beautiful woman who was nursed by a she-bear during her earliest years. Then she was raised by a couple of hunters, including Artemis, the goddess of the hunt. As a result, Atalanta grew up in the wilderness to be a very skilled hunter. Atalanta was destined to be alone and celibate, until Milanion a young man that hated women fell in love with her. He began the chase even though others had lost their lives doing so. Atalanta was a skilled hunter and runner, so she challenged the best and bravest of the town’s men to compete against her.It was said that she could outrace any man. She even wanted to join the party that searched for the Golden Fleece but was denied the opportunity because of her beauty. Beautiful women were considered a distraction to men. This is to say that where men and women are together there is also great tension growing and the work that needs to be done may not be a ccomplished. This is not necessarily because of anything the woman has done. It is simply because of her presence and the attention that each man thinks he must devote to her in order to protect her from the other men.Atalanta was capable of taking care of herself because she was a skilled wrestler. On one occasion she fought and defeated the town’s hero and no man wants to be known as the one that was beaten down by a woman. After being denied the opportunity to hunt for the Golden Fleece, she took part in another hunt -the hunt for the Calydonian Boar. It is here she met and fell in love with the Prince of Calydonia. And it was during this hunting season the beautiful Atalanta became pregnant. However, before she could have the baby the Prince died.There is no evidence to support this theory but it seem that the Princes was careless and distracted by the woman that he loved. It may have cost him his life and because of this she secretly gave birth to a baby boy and left the baby on the mountain. The loss of her lover caused her to live a life of celibacy but men still found her very attractive. They were willing to give their lives to make her their wife. Suitors had to contend for her love and the task was not easy. The cost of failure was one’s life and many a man had lost his life for her. Still, that did not stop others from trying.Is love really worth dying for? We can look to Jesus for the answer. For, Jesus left his home -a place where, according the bible, every living being bows down in His presence and cries â€Å"Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty,† -in order to come into this sin-filled world (King James Bible, Revelations 4:8) . He came to die for you and me just because He loves us with an everlasting love. Milanion saw her beauty and was mystified by it during their frequent visits and hunts together. He began to notice her and became more and more attracted by her beauty.He drew himself closer to her every chance he got and even to the point of carrying her hunting nets. Milanion once placed himself in the way of an unwanted suitor. That suitor became angry and tried to hurt Atalanta. Milanion was badly hurt so Atalanta killed the villain then nursed Milanion back to health. Meanwhile, Atalanta began falling in love with Milanion. Love, however, would not come cheap for them because Milanion had to face the same challenge as all the other suitors just so that all could see that her love could only be won by her one true lover.As it states in the bible, â€Å"In a race all run but only one wins† (Bible, Romans 9:24). Milanion prayed for help and it was given to him. He came to the race prepared and during the race he followed the instructions given to him by XXXX. Atalanta, however, was just like Eve. She forgot the warnings given to her and succumbed to the lust of the flesh. Also like Eve, she picked the fruit and did not give thanks, and so was cursed to be an animal for the rest of her li fe. Conclusion: Atalanta a beautiful woman nursed by a she bear and raised by hunters was a skilled hunter, wrestler, and runner.She fell in love with the Calydonian prince but lost him while they were both still very young. Having been warned of what marriage would mean for her, she decided to live a life of celibacy. Unfortunately, her beauty attracted many men and she fended them off by challenging them to a foot race that would cost them their lives if they lost. In the end she willingly lost the race to a man that she herself was in love with and was eventually turned into an animal along with her lover.
